That’s right. I didn’t actually think my next post would be about my first client, at least not so soon after my previous post. After a couple of rather bleak posts that flaunted the F word way too much (failure). I have successfully secured my first client. A gastropub in the Lancashire countryside.
I had secured a pitch with the owner of the business through my father and his connections. This was essentially the reason I felt obliged to give this ago. I surely had an advantage over someone else in the same position as me, who didn’t have any established connections in the industry. The pitch went perfectly and I couldn’t have asked for more. The owner whose name I won’t mention, let’s call him John, was very laid back and fully on board with everything I had to say. He seemed to be on board before I had even had chance to show him the value in it.
John also owns a second establishment on the same premises, a separate restaurant, which we agreed to review once I had gotten started with the pub. He’s agreed to my full three-month trial at £200 per month, at which point we can review the performance and hopefully move over to the full plan. Once we had agreed upon pricing I went on to make the most of the good weather and take a few photos. I will be back there on Monday to launch the social media content. This weekend I am planning the first 30 days’ worth of content.
I have a lot of ideas for the place, complete with competitions, chef and staff insights, and a lot of good quality photography. So gone are the updates of 100% text.

As for the rest of next week, I have two more pitches/ reviews lined up, both on Wednesday. If I can walk away from one of those with a second client I will be extremely happy.
I said in a previous post my first client would ‘get the best service they are likely to have ever had’, and that they will get. I will likely be there twice a week over the next couple of weeks, whilst I can dedicate that much time to them.
My next post will be a more in-depth look at the business side of things and financial outlook going forward. A look at the social media software I am utilising, problems I am facing, competitors and what opportunities I see. Have a great weekend everyone and happy Fathers Day.
